Italian auto giant Fiat has announced that it will launch four new models in India by the end of 2014. The new Linea mid-size sedan has already been launched leaving out the new Punto, Abarth 500 and Aventura in the list of yet-to-be-launched models.
The company has been struggling to grow sales over the past few quarters, given its lack of new products and sub-standard after sales service. Now Fiat is looking to fix both these issues and is even targeting fast growing segments such as that of compact crossovers.
The Avventura and Abarth 500 were recently showcased at Mumbai just ahead of their impending launch in the country. While the Abarth is squarely targeted at the Mini Cooper from BMW, the Avventura should compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport.
Apart from launching new models, Fiat is also ramping up its dealership network in India, going from 0-100 dealers in just a single year. The company plans to add a further 50 odd dealerships in the span of the nine remaining months of 2014.
