Nissan has launched the new Micra hatchback which is based on its 'V' platform and comes with a refreshed exterior, interior and a whole host of new features. The smallest offering from the company has grown by 45mm in its new avatar and gets a sculpted bonet and front bumper, along with a new 'V' chrome grill. LED tail lamps and a redesigned rear bumper wrap up the exterior styling changes made to the car.
The interior gets refreshed too with a new centre console, silver finished door trims, redesigned seats with new premium upholstery, 2-din music system with USB and AUX capability, steering mounted controls, rear view camera and Bluetooth connectivity.
Another major upgrade is the optional Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) gearbox with a sports mode that carries Nissan's Xtronic badge. Nissan claims the automatic gearbox variant of the Micra achieves higher gas mileage figures than the conventional manual gearbox variant.
The car will be offered with the same 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel options that were seen on the older Micra model. The new Micra also comes with an Anti-lock Brakes (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distrubution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) to improve the safety of the car.
Also launched was the Micra Active that is a more value for money proposition based on the Micra Platform. Nissan claims the Micra Active offers lower maintanance costs and better fuel efficiency without damping the driving experience. The Micra Active is targetted at small families and comes with added safety features as an option.
Mr. Kenichiro Yomura, President & CEO, Nissan Motor India said, “Micra is a significant model for Nissan in India as the car has more than 43,000 happy customers since its launch in 2010. New Nissan Micra is the right product at the right time that will offer the customers ideal urban mobility with a complete package of premium design, performance, features, safety and comfort. We expect New Micra, as well as Micra Active with its excellent value proposition and its unique features, to serve wider range of customers in India.”
Starting price for the new Nissan Micra is Rs 4.8 lakh for the petrol variant, Rs 6 lakh for the diesel variant and Rs 6.39 lakh for the CVT petrol variant. The Micra Active comes at a starting price of Rs 3.5 lakh. All prices ex-showroom Delhi.
