Mahindra First Choice Wheels, India’s largest multi-brand pre-owned car company, is reportedly in talks with car manufacturers like Tata Motors, General Motor, Maruti, Volkswagen, Skoda, Ford to source pre-owned cars. It is to be mentioned that Mahindra First Choice is the country’s preferred pre-owned car mart and is India’s only organized multi-brand player, with 100 plus outlets in over 60 towns across India. The company plans to expand this number to 300 outlets in the next three years. This implies that customers will soon be able to choose from a range of certified pre-owned cars throughout India, including the metros and tier-2 towns and cities. As part of it transparency efforts, the company would also be launching a new mathematical pricing model on its portal soon. It registered a turnover of Rs. 220 crore last fiscal and expects to close the current fiscal with around Rs. 400 crore.
A senior official of MFCW was quoted as saying to ‘Business Standard’, “We are planning to use their dealership base to procure used cars. This will be a win to win situation for both. For us the procurement problem would be addressed and for the dealers, they can run their exchange programme successfully.”
Mahindra First Choice Wheels, the multi-brand pre-owned car business, is aiming to sell 18,000 cars by March 2010. The company hopes to double this number by 2011 and reach 1 lakh numbers target by 2014. Mahindra First Choice is also expecting to sell over 18,000 cars across the country in the current fiscal year. Last year, it sold over 15,000 vehicles.
Shubhabrata Saha, CEO of Mahindra First Choice Wheels, said, “The new car market is expected to see sales of about 1.7 million units in 2010 and we expect the used card market too to be of similar size. The B and C segments are growing very sharply in the used car market. As new launches by auto companies are lined up this year, used car market will also increase.”
