
Lohia Auto Industries which manufactures electric two wheelers has launched its new economical & eco-friendly ‘OMA Star’, scooters. They are now available in three colours - Macho Black, Fiery Red and Spirited Silver and will be priced at Rs. 30,587 in Delhi. They come with a top speed of 25 km/hr and delivers ranges more than 60 km per charge. Some other specific features which add value are its battery capacity of 20 Ah, charging time 6-8 hours, front & rear break drums in size 80 m and 110 mm respectively.
On this occasion Ayush Lohia- CEO Lohia Auto Industries, said, “Enhancing the quality of life is the ultimate objective and the driving force behind many of the critical decisions we take. Against the backdrop of environmental concerns and depleting resources, it is imperative not only to preserve what’s left but find new alternatives to drive engines of growth the economy. Our scoters is an answer to these concerns.”
LAI is the vehicles manufacturing division of Lohia Group. With its inception in 1976 in Moradabad, the Lohia Group commands a turnover of Rs. 500 Crore, having business interests in India and abroad. Lohia Auto Industries was incorporated in the Lohia Group in 2007.
Lohia Auto Industries manufactures hi-tech two and three wheelers in their state-of the-art plant at Kashipur, Uttrakhand. Developed with German technology, the company already manufactures two variants of electric scooters- Fame and OMA. These scooters are virtually maintenance free. They have no gears, no engine, no belt or chain drive, zero emission, no pollution, electronic start and accelerator, besides being exempted from the Central Motor Vehicle Rules. As per the Automative Research Association of India (ARAI) this bike does not require any registration or license.
The manufacturing unit at Kashipur in Uttrakhand has capacity of two lakh units per year. The company has set itself a target to sell more than 20,000 electric bikes this fiscal year and increase it to one lakh units around the next year. The company is also aggressively looking avenues for export in the neighboring countries.
