Maruti Alto, Maruti Suzuki's highest selling car for the past 5 years has launched another version of the Alto car which is a retrofitted CNG model in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR). The Maruti-authorized CNG kits will be available across variants of brand new Maruti Suzuki Alto at dealerships in only Delhi and NCR from 17th June'09 onwards. It will be fitted only in brand new Alto cars before delivery to the customer at dealerships.

Shashank Srivastava, chief general manager, Maruti Suzuki said, “Customers find Alto as a highly attractive package in terms of value offered by this car. A large customer base for Alto is a testimony. Alto has emerged as the most preferred car in India for its drivability, superior mileage, low ownership cost and overall reliability. We are confident that the Alto with a CNG option makes this car even more attractive for customers. For Maruti Suzuki, this is also an important initiative towards a safer and greener NCR Delhi.”

The CNG kit includes a 12kg CNG tank which can take around 7-7.5 kg Compressed Natural Gas. The CNG kit comes with a Lamda and Advancer, which enables a better flow of the gas to the engine and improves the pick-up of the car. This CNG kit is priced highly competitively at Rs. 43,545/-.plus registration charges. For the customer the added benefit is that the regular warranty (2 years / 40,000 km) offered by Maruti Suzuki on Alto continues to remain intact, even after the fitment of this CNG kit. Other benefits for the customer include a running cost of less than one rupee per km and assured safety. Since, it is a Maruti Suzuki authorized kit, the company has fine tuned the engine for a perfect match to ensure free flow of gas to the engine and hassle free driving.

Maruti Suzuki has already sold over a million units of Alto since its launch in 2000. As per ARAI tests, Alto is certified to deliver a mileage of 18.1 km per litre of petrol.
