The newly launched 3rd Generation Honda City has won the prestigious titles of the Business Standard Motoring Car of the Year 2009 and Zigwheels Car of the Year 2008. The all New Honda City was also awarded the sedan of the year by Zigwheels in a separate category which had 4 other competitors. The jury for the Business Standard Motoring awards comprised of 6 members who voted for 7 models launched in the calendar year 2008.

The New Honda City was also named Car of the Year by Zigwheels which had 3 other competitors in this category. The new and completely re-designed Honda City was launched in India in September 2008. The new Honda City is fully loaded with all active and passive safety features including Dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist and G-CON (G-Force Control Technology) body with a crush-proof survival zone. The new 1.5 L i-VTEC engine delivers 118PS, while being extremely fuel efficient. It is the first car in its segment to be equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift.
